I have a fun fact for you!
The shadow character on the left is a 3D model, even though it looks flat (like 2D!).
Through some Unreal Engine rendering magic (along with a little bit of compositing), the wolf was flattened to look 2D to mimic shadows. In the scene inside Unreal Engine, he actually looks like the last panel. This was done using rendering layers as well as materials.

I modeled and UV mapped this environment and completed a first lighting pass to get a feel for the scene. I am in the process of texturing all the assets, including the character in a stylized texturing style. Once this comes together, I’ll refine the lighting and color.
